Windsong Wins Kemah, Texas -
"Mayors Choice Award"
During the 2006 Clear Lake Texas' 45th annual Christmas
Boat Parade.
Parade Highlights
We had a wonderful time getting to know several committee members
and their families. The food and drinks brought on board were
fantastic!
Members included: Jim Christiansen, Lockheed Martin Space
Operations Co., Bob Bavousett, Seabrook Professional Home Inspections,
Mary Carriere, Houston Safe Boating Council, Mary Proudy, City of Kemah and
Domino Taylor, City of Seabrook.
Everyone found plenty of space to visit and view the incredible
decorations on all of the boats!
It was hard to believe the number of people lined up along the shore and
on the Kemah Boardwalk.
Since Windsong drafts over 6 feet we were unable to start at the
beginning of the parade. Unfortunately this feature also presented a
problem with being "grounded" a couple of times. Everyone took it in
stride and stated this just added to the excitement of the evening!
Thank you Tow Boats/US for coming to our rescue!
Being the first year to participate we took several notes for future
events....
1. Need bigger speakers outside the cockpit so we can drown out
those singing Elvis'
2. Santa & the trees need a different location for better
visibility - this may have contributed to "running a ground".
4. Buy more lights - much, much more!

A special "thank you" to the Boat Lane Parade Committee members for
selecting Windsong as the committee boat.
We also appreciated the beautiful gift basket from The City of Kemah.
Thank you to our local friends for their help in navigating, launching
and returning to dock: Richard McBride (next time he asks for something warm
from the bow, we'll know he means a drink - not a jacket), Gil Huguley for
watching the stern & Rodney Young, owner of Boat Fashions for handling
lines.
Rodney also deserves recognition for the transformation during our
renovation of Windsong. Boat Fashions custom designed the bimini &
dodger as well as all cushions & canvas work.
We were glad we participated and look forward to future events.
